#1 God Saw You Getting Tired
God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be,
So He closed His arms around you and whispered "come to me".

Your golden heart stopped beating, your gentle hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away.
Our hearts were broken as you fought so hard to stay.

But when we saw you sleeping so peacefully, free from pain.
We could not wish you back to suffer that again.

So keep your arms around (her/him) Lord and give (her/him) special care.
To make up for all (he/she) suffered and all that seemed unfair.

#3 Fill Not Your Heart With Sorrow
Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,
but remember me in every tomorrow.
Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles,
I've only gone to rest a little while.
Although my leaving causes pain and grief,
my going has eased my hurt & given my relief.
So dry your eyes and remember me,
not as I am now, but as I used to be.
Because, I will remember you all,
and look on with a smile.
Understand, in your hearts,
I've only gone to rest a little while...
A long as I have the love of you,
I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.
#5 I'm Free
Don't grieve for me for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow:
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full I've savored much,
Good times, good friends, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, he set me free.

#7 No Time for Goodbye
You never said I'm leaving, you never said good-bye,
you were gone before we knew it and no one knows why.

A million times we will need you, a million times we will cry,
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.

In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still
In our hearts you will hold a place that no one could ever fill.

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone,
for part of us went with you, the day that you went home.

You were always there when we needed you, no task to great or small,
With a loving heart and a willing hand, for us you did them all.

Thanks for the years you gave us, for the dreams that we shared.
We only pray that when you left us, you knew how much we cared.

#2 Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there.
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush.
I am the swift uplifting rush.
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there.
I did not die.
#4 Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul.
He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me.
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
In the presence of my enemies, Thou have anointed my head with oil,
My cup overflows. Surely good ness and mercy will follow me,
all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Amen.

#6 Miss Me But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.
#8 I Do Not Think My Song Will End
I do not think my song will end
While flowers, grass and trees
Abound with birds and butterflies
For I am one with these.

And I believe my voice will sound
Upon the whispering wind
So long as even one remains
Among those I call "friend".

I shall remain in hearts and minds
Of loved ones that I knew,
And in the rocks and hills and streams
Because I love those, too.

So long as love and hope and dreams
Abide in earth and sky,
Weep not for me, though I be gone.
I shall not really die.

#9 After Glow - Helen Lowrie Marshall
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
of happy times, and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun
of happy memories I leave behind, when my life is done.
#10 Queen Mother's Funeral Program
You can shed tears that (he/she) is gone
Or you can smile because (he/she) has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that (he/she) will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that (he's/she) has left
Your heart can be empty because you can't see (him/her)
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember (him/her) and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish (him/her) memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what (he/she) would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

#11 Remember Me
Now that I'm gone, remember me with a smile and laughter
And if you need to cry, cry with your brothers or sisters who
walk in grief beside you

And when you need me, put your arms around someone,
anyone And give them what you need to give me..

I want to leave you something, something much better than
words or sounds. Look for me in the people I've known and
loved, or helped out in some special way.

Let me live in your eyes as well as in your mind. You can
love me the most by letting love live within the circle of
your arms, embracing the little ones.

Love does not die, people do. So, when all that's left of
me is love, give me away the best you can.
I'll see you at home, where I'll be waiting.
#12 Legacy of Love
A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife, not just as a mother.
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you've earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep.

#13 Dad
He never looks for praises, he's never one to boast
He just goes on quietly working for those he loves the most
His dreams are seldom spoken, his wants are very few
And most of the time his worries will go unspoken too.
He's there a firm foundation, through all our storms of life
A sturdy hand to hold to in times of stress and strife
A true friend we can turn to when times are good or bad.
One of our greatest blessings, the man that we call Dad.

#14 Remember Me in Quiet Days - author unknown
Remember me in quiet days
While raindrops whisper on your pane
But in your memories have no grief,
Let just the joy remain.

Remember me when evening stars
Look down on you with steadfast eyes.
Remember if once you wake
To catch a glimpse of red sunrise.

And when your thoughts do turn to me,
Know that I would not have you cry.
But live for me and laugh for me,
When you are happy, so am I.

Remember an old joke we shared;
Remember me when spring walks by.
Think once of me when you are glad
And while you live, I shall not die.

#15 I Heard Your Voice in The Wind Today - Unknown
I heard your voice in the wind today and I turned to see your face,
The warmth of the wind caressed me as I stood silently in place.
I felt your touch in the sun today as its warmth filled the sky,
I closed my eyes for your embrace and my spirit soared high.

I saw your eyes in the window pane as I watched the falling rain,
It seemed as each raindrop fell it quietly said your name.
I held you close in my heart today it made me feel complete,
You may have died but you are not gone, you will always be a part of me.

As long as the sun shines...
the wind blows ...
the rain falls ...
You will live on inside of me forever
for that is all my heart knows.
#16 A Light From Our Household
A light is from our household gone,
A voice we loved is stilled, A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.

We have to mourn the loss of one,
we did our best to save, beloved one earth, remembered still as one being so brave.

‘Twas hard to part with one so dear, we little thought the time was near. Farewell dear one, your life Is past our love for you till the end will last.

#17 I am Still With You
If it seems that I am far away on this empty and solemn day,
Just open your heart and know it’s true,
that I am still right here with you.
If during the day things are going wrong,
please don’t feel sad and alone.
Just open your heart and know it’s true,
that I am still right here with you.
When nighttime falls and the day is done.
If you are feeling alone and sleep won’t come,
Just open your heart and know it’s true,
that I am still right here with you.
Close your eyes, and feel the warm embrace.
Sleep peacefully in the wings of grace.
If sadness finds you in the morning light, if you feel alone,
don’t give up trying!
Hold this feather close and know it’s true,
that I am always here with you.

#18 I Stood on the Shore, Rev. Bill Thomas
I stood on the shore as the tide came in.
Listening and watching
The ocean waves.
And I
wave back.
Calling your name across the sea
Echoing, you came back to me,
Ever so briefly.
A wind, stronger than a breeze,
Confronted with this new reality.
You are gone.
Taken to that distant shore
Beyond the waves,
Beyond my reach,
Beyond my sight,
Our covenant made manifest
In grains of sand,
Drops of water,
Stars in the firmament.
A word spoken long ago,
Heard anew in the silence
Of your absence,
The greatest of these is love,
That love that never ends,
But, stands upon the shore
And waves into the darkness.

#19 Ecclesiastes 3 1-8
A Time for Everything
3 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

#19 Love is like a resting plance, author unkonwn
Perhaps love is like a resting place A shelter from the storm It exists to give you comfort It is there to keep you warm And in those times of trouble When you are most alone The memory of love will bring you home Perhaps love is like a window Perhaps an open door It invites you to come closer It wants to show you more And even if you lose yourself And don't know what to do The memory of love will see you through Perhaps love is like the ocean Full of conflict, full of pain Like a fire when it's cold outside Or thunder when it rains If I should live forever And all my dreams come true My memories of love will be of you

#21 Their Jouney has just begun, Ellen Brenneman

Don't think of him/her as gone away, her/his journey has just begun, life holds many facets and the Earth is only one. Just think of her/him as resting, from the sorrow and the tears; in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days or years.
Think of how he/she must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away.
Think of her/him as living in the hearts of those she/he touched; for nothing loved is ever lost, and she/he was loved so much.

#20 In Our Hearts

We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new
We thought about you yesterday, and the days before that too.
We thought of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories and your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part.

God has you in His keeping. We have you in our heart.

#22 To Honor You
To honor you, I get up everyday and take a breath. And start another day without you in it. To honor you, I laugh and love with those who knew your smile and the way your eyes twinkled with mischief and secret knowledge.
To honor you, I take the time to appreciate everyone I love, I know now there is no guarantee of days or hours spent in their presence.
To honor you, I listen to music you would have liked, and sing at the top of my lungs, with the windows rolled down.
To honor you, I take chances, say what I feel, hold nothing back, risk making a fool of myself, dance every dance.
You were my light, my heart, my gift of love, from the very highest source. So everyday, I vow to make a difference, share a smile, live, laugh and love. Now I live for us both, so all I do, I do to honor you.
